Happiness is your nature.
It is not wrong to desire it.
What is wrong is seeking it outside
when it is inside.

About Me

Background

My background and experience includes extensive study of a number of body-mind therapies and spiritual traditions, as well as more than two decades of work as a sex educator and counselor. I have also been a passionate student of diverse meditation practices, non-dual approaches to therapy, and self-inquiry for many years.

My most influential teachers include Eckhart Tolle, Byron Katie, Adyashanti, and Ramana Maharshi. I ground and balance my spiritual approach with Western research and study that supports and encourages transformation. One such course of study is my training in Gottman Method couples therapy.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (License # MFC 43095). I hold a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), and am a clinical member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) and its San Francisco branch (SFCAMFT), as well as the Northern California Group Psychotherapy Society (NCGPS).

I chose to get my MFT at the California Institute of Integral Studies because I wanted a psychotherapeutic education that integrated Western psychology with the spiritual dimensions of the Eastern wisdom traditions.

All therapists are required to receive ongoing training. I continue to pursue psychospiritual education above and beyond the requirements, both because it expands my therapeutic repertoire, and also because it supports my own spiritual path. To be truly present for each of my clients is a distinct and significant part of my spiritual practice.

Approaches I've Developed

As an outgrowth of my psychospiritual studies and experience, I have developed a therapeutic method I call Mindful Inquiry, in which my clients and I dissolve the stories of the mind to reveal the beauty and truth of the heart. While Mindful Inquiry forms the core of my practice, I draw on a variety of other modalities and techniques to further nurture and accelerate each client’s personal unfolding.

I have also expanded my sexuality expertise, and developed an approach to sex therapy and education I call Mindful Sexuality, which engages an awareness of the mind. With this expanded consciousness, we can enjoy greater choice about the many facets of our sexuality, transform sexual wounding and shame, and experience the beauty and pleasure of true sexual embodiment, for ourselves and for our partners.
